praying for Bin Laden

Here's a great quote from an interview Brother Andrew did with Christianity Today about his new book, Secret Believers.

"Speaking as a Christian, they [Muslims] are not our enemies. God loves the world. And in my new book, Secret Believers, we propose the question, "Have you prayed for bin Laden today?" That question should shock a lot of Christians. Of course we haven't! That is why he is what he is. We have an evangelical black list of people we don't want to see in heaven and put bin Laden on top. Saddam Hussein is probably second."

Yo go Brother Andrew! You are so right. I HAVE written bin Laden off. I HAVE wished him death, not LIFE from the Living God. And yet, bin Laden is winnable for Jesus. If Jesus can save Saul, if He can save the sinner dying next to him on the cross, if He can save me, Jesus can save bin Laden. Shame on me for not praying.

challenging thought... never thought of it that way before.

Although, reading Frank Peretti's book This Present Darkness really made me look at people differently. Not that I think all that is true, but what if it was...

i just finished watching a show called "30 days" which we got on netflix. it's by the same guy who did "supersize me", if you are familiar with that. anyway, the premise is for someone to spend 30 days living in a way that they never would in their normal life. in one, the guy tries to live 30 days with only a minimum wage job, and in the one we watched last night, an evangelical christian man lives for 30 days with a muslim family, observing their customs and dressing like a muslim. it was very eye opening as far as the misconceptions we have in this country since 9/11 about what muslims stand for and what their religion teaches. while i didn't agree with some of the points they were trying to make, it was very enlightening to watch a devout christian struggle with some of these issues.

only tangentially related to your post....but convicting nonetheless. :)
