hiatus

Hey Kids,
I'm announcing a temporary hiatus from my blog. But feel free to e-mail me PLEASE. I love my blogging world and especially keeping up with your life. But I can still keep up with you by reading YOUR blog! I wonder if I will journal to God more without my blog? You just can't be THAT open on a blog (gotta have some discretion), and so I'm choosing for now to focus on the journal so I can say everything openly and be talking most with the Person that matters most.

Ta ta!

gourds

My friend Danny makes gorgeous gourds. He's quite talented. Many shops in our area are now displaying and selling his gourds. Danny buys ugly, dirty gourds and cleans 'em, shines 'em up, stains 'em, and believes that they can be better. And after the process is through, they are SOO lovely and unique. See for yourself.

disciplines

So, I'm working on a few new disciplines. Going ok so far, but we'll see if I can stick with it. First, I try to only go to the store (grocery) once a week. If we run out of something and we are desperate, I will go back to the store for that one item ONLY. I also aim to spend $100 each trip. Also in the vein of stores, my goal is only ONE trip to Costco each month, and to spend $100 TOTAL. So therefore, to have our grocery bill $500 each month. This shouldn't be hard, right? You'd think not.

OK second goal. To be more proactive about pursuing people. I want to take the friendship that I'm offered, the gesture I'm offered, the work I'm offered, and I want to be grateful. Genuinely grateful. (As opposed to feeling like I only got 'scrub time' or 'scrub work' or 'pity help.') I want to take what I'm offered and know that I've been given a gift, and I'm determined to cherish it.

Journaling. OK, so those that know me well know this has never been a weak suit for me, but it is nowadays. When I get time to pray and journal to "My Watcher" (another post on how I came to address my letters in my journal to my watcher) I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. And then something happened where, of late, I hate my computer and my stuffy computer closet. When the kids are napping and I have the opportunity to breathe, please don't confine me to the windowless closet for a time of overanalysing myself and God and how we fit together. I just need to 'be.' And so the journal has been dormant. :( SOOO sad because my whole life I have journaled and I really have not documented much, if anything, of the last several months and my journey with God. But no more my fine friends.

So what about you? Have any new disciplines of late? What'cha working on?

superbowl

Today was the superbowl (for those of you missionaries living in Germany that hate sports). Here in our home, football is a pretty big deal. We were trying to figure out HOW we could watch the football game with a 3 year old and a 1 year old running about. Enter our friends J & K, who invited us to a "young adults" superbowl party. The young families/adults group at our church is basically the post college group.

We lugged our kids to M's house and met up with a host of young families/adults, and watched the game while the kids rummaged through all of Ms "little people" toys. It was nice to watch the game with folks. Nice to make the superbowl feel like an 'event' rather than just a game. :)

So Congrats to the Colts and to Coach. Happy times!
