Orphan Statistics: Clarifying the Need

I HIGHLY recommend you head over to the Christian Alliance for Orphans website and read their newly released white paper document clarifying global orphan statistics, advocating family-based solutions, and educating us even more about the reality of the needs of orphans around the world.   

There has been a growing amount of confusion within the orphan care and adoption movement about the number of children worldwide who are in need of a loving family.  I myself have been guilty of using inaccurate statistics and/or maybe perpetuating the confusion.  There is a need for clarification on the reality of double orphans, single orphans, social orphans, and institutional orphans and how many of them there are and how best we can help them.  I'm grateful for the hard work, thoughtful research, and well-written clarification offered by the Alliance.
