Love your post! It was emailed to me by Ed btw. It is such an eye opening experience when God reveals to you ALL that you're capable of doing and then giving you the resources and insight to do it with. I too grew up in a denominational church and remember the pastors wives, or any wife at that matter, just existing. I'm so thankful for my husband, who as a pastor, didn't put me in a box, but has allowed me to flourish in my calling! Great post and thanks for sharing!
Karen, really loved this post too. I've spent the last 10 years in a church that despite believing that women can serve in minitry (other than as elders) often relegates women to the home. I'm only now - from half way around the world - realizing how suffocating it was. Like you, I have a gift of prophecy. I also have a calling to mercy ministries. It was hard to be silenced. To literally have the experience over and over again of men in church leadership not replying to emails because I was a woman. Men's ideas were taken seriously. Women were - unless the ideas involved women's or children's ministry - mostly ignored. Thankful God's led us to a church where I feel more free to use my gifts...
