Hello friend,
I'm so thankful you've stopped by.
I started this blog, "Finding Rest," in 2005, shortly after our second child was born. Searching for my identity as a new mother, communications director, wife, and friend, I landed on a verse out of the Bible, Psalm 62:1-2: "My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken."
If you've read my blog you've uncovered that I am not uber girlie, I don't scrapbook, and I don't bake. :( But I hope you still like me, because I DO love people and living with purpose. I write because people I know have written and blessed me. My favorite topics of discussion are adoption/orphan care, international missions, culture, God, gratitude, books, and my children.
I've had the privilege of working for several international non-profit organizations, including Insight for Living, Open Doors USA, Fluid Communications (a creative service agency), and most recently, Amazima Ministries. For these organizations I was able to write, direct, oversee, and manage messaging, campaigns, public relations, marketing, and fundraising.
My hubby, Bookguy, works as a Christian literary agent and attorney, and represents some pretty amazing Christian influencers--many of whom inspire us every day with their passion for Jesus. This has helped me dabble in a few book projects too, including Hidden Sorrow, Lasting Joy, The Narrow Road, Secret Believers, and Kisses from Katie.
I absolutely love visiting, learning, and experiencing other cultures--we live in a GINORMOUS world! I've visited Turkey, Greece, Italy, Germany, France, England, Ethiopia, and Uganda, and I lived a stint in New York. If I had my druthers I'd take an international trip several times a year (one day, perhaps?).
You can follow me on Facebook or Twitter or subscribe to this blog via RSS. Don't be shy--I LIKE people!
I don't know what brought you here, but I'm glad you've arrived. And I hope you can find rest today in the One who has all the answers.
You are dearly loved.
